A Few Reasons We Love Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Posted on February 16, 2021November 8, 2023 by the mom recess

When discussing Disney vacations, I often get asked, “is staying on property worth it?” And my answer is, yes. Although, it can be more expensive than off property hotels, there are many perks that come with staying on property. On-property vs off-property information can be found here.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort is one of the deluxe resorts. It is one of the more expensive resort options. However, there are many perks that make the Polynesian Village Resort one of our favorite places to stay.

3 Reasons to Stay at the
Polynesian Village Resort

1. Convenient Transportation– the Polynesian is one of three resorts on the monorail line. The monorail is an excellent form of transportation to get to the Magic Kingdom, the Transportation Center and Epcot. We have even been able to push our double stroller onto the monorail without having to fold it up. Absolute win with a sleeping toddler!

2. The View– the Polynesian sits on the edge of the Seven Seas Lagoon overlooking the Magic Kingdom. Many rooms have a view of the lagoon, which is a great perk, but, guests can sit on one of the three beaches to watch the fireworks over Cinderella’s Castle or catch the Electric Water Pageant. Make sure to have a dole whip in hand (which can be purchased from the Pineapple Lanai just outside the Great Ceremonial House). Absolutely worth it!

*We’ve even enjoyed the fireworks from the pool, too!*

3. The Pools– There are two pools at the Polynesian and they are both wonderful. The Lava Pool is at the center of the resort; just outside the Great Ceremonial Hall. It has a zero depth entry, fun water slide and lots of room to play. There is also Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area just to the side of the Lava Pool. This is great for younger kids! The Oasis Pool is tucked behind the Samoa Longhouse. It’s a quieter pool, but children are allowed.

*complimentary pool towels are available at both pools*
