So, it’s time to start thinking about character dining reservations. As you tackle the amazing options for character meals at Disney World, Chef Mickey’s is often at the top of most lists. It was the experience that I couldn’t wait to share with my kids! All the classic characters, in the Contemporary, with mickey waffles..it checked all the boxes! Although we had fun, it just didn’t quite live up to the hype.
Don’t get me wrong, there are many things that I love about Chef Mickey’s. The decorations are bright and fun, being close to the Magic Kingdom is convenient and the waffle bar is not to be missed!
However, Chef Mickey’s is a buffet and when dining with young children, I found that my husband and I spent more time away from the table getting more food than we did at the table together as a family. And, as I ran around trying to get everyone’s favorite food, I kept looking over my shoulder, hoping to not miss the look on my daughter’s face when she saw Minnie Mouse walk into the room.
Chef Mickey’s is an iconic character meal and I’m glad we got to experience it. There are just so many other character meal options with amazingly delicious food and are not buffet style where I would prefer to make our family dining reservations.
